Gobindobhog rice is a white short- grain sticky rice which is locally grown and cultivated mostly in the few districts of west bengal in India. It is famous for its aroma and is highly nutritious with an excellent taste and flavour.
It is said that gobindobhog rice was named after lord Gobindo as it was used in preparing the special prasad or bhog for lord. Gobindobhog rice got the geographical indication tag by the government of India in August 2017. It is cultivated and processed using various specific methods for its unique qualities.
Gobindobhog rice is one of the most flavourful and aromatic foodgrain , a bengali cannot live without. It is so tasteful that it can often be steamed and served plain with any dishes. It is known as ‘Prince of rice’ for it’s sweet, strong and divine.
